EU Project REEsilience Kick-off

The co-funded EU project REEsilience started in July 2022 and will last until June 2026. The consortium comprises 16 project partners and two associated partners from ten European countries (Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom). The project’s coordinator is the Institute for Precious Metals and Technology (STI) of Pforzheim University.

REEsilience aims to build a more resilient and sustainable supply chain for RE magnetic materials and products in Europe and will create new market opportunities for critical raw materials more sustainably produced in the continent.

What happend already?

REEsilience Coordinator spoke at Salzburg Summit

In the city of Mozart, visions and paths for the future of Europe as a business location were discussed. More than 200 CEOs and international experts addressed Europe’s most pressing issues at the Salzburg Summit 2022, which ran until 30 July. Among them: is Professor Dr Carlo Burkhardt from Pforzheim University (Coordinator of REEsilience).

REEsilience partners were part of REIA 2022 Annual Conference

This year’s global Rare Earth Industry Association (REIA) conference focused on e-motors for the wind energy and automotive sectors.

REEsilience was represented by the coordinator, Prof. Carlo Burkhardt of the Institute for Precious and Technology Metals (Pforzheim University, Germany), as well as project partners Prof. Spomenka Kobe of Jožef Stefan Institute (Slovenia) and Dr Boris Saje of Kolektor (Slovenia), during the Circular Economy Panel on 6 October at 10:00: The bottlenecks and opportunities for an efficient recycling loop (In Memory of Prof Rex Harris).
